I've Got A Story For You

I've been gone for 137 days = 19 weeks + 4 days. The longest I've been away from home is 11 days. I spent the summer/fall working on a dude ranch in northern Wyoming. I lived on the ranch over the horse barn and worked waitstaff/housekeeping on the ranch. It was without doubt in my mind quite the life experience. 6 days of the week you worked, then whenever you had time off you would either sleep or go crazy in Wyoming. At times it felt like time moved too slow, then fast, then slow, then you woke up and you would be going home in one week and then find yourself really missing what you haven't even left yet and even though you've been wishing, hoping, wanting to go home so badly, feeling at home where you are.

When I got off the plain back in the MidWest, after traveling 11 hours, it was amazing. Just the feeling of being "HOME". I saw my family after just seeing pictures that were hanging above my bed for 5 months. I cried, lost my breath and was completely dazed. I've been home for over a month now. Being home, so comforting. Early this year I had that restless feeling. Every time the wind blew I wanted to follow it, and go. I applied to a bunch of ranches almost as a fluke. Then got a call, and two weeks after that call I was in Wyoming. Happy being home, yet I've got that gypsy wanderlust blood in my vines. It's gotten a strong taste for that open road and adventure. I decided to pick the 11 photos I thought were best from the summer. And, here they are. It's good to be back.

A little chilly, but very good. I had this idea for a shoot in my head for a while now and I found the top just a few weeks ago and then I found Sarah and here are the results. I think they turned out quite well.

A photo shoot with the wonderful and beautiful Elise. The makeup artist Kate was incredible, a true artist. The makeup was, WOW. You can find more info on Kate and Elise on my ModelMayhem. By far the most amazing shoot ever! We all had a great time, lots of smily all around. Elise was great too, it was only 34 degrees out! Yeah, so, super happy. All the jewelry and cloths are mine too. :)

Perfect Sunday

A total perfect sunday. Last week was really busy and slightly crazy, working all week, then going to Madison, then going downtown to meet a model, then only to be stood up by the model. After this weekend I really started to hate public transit. A total of 7 hours of traveling this weekend. Yeah, gross. On sunday I was feeling tired and a bit cranky, so I went out to the creek with my new lens and the cats came a long. It was sunny but with a cool breeze, a wonderful time was held by all.

The Fight For America's Soul

On friday I took a bus to Madison WI to see and partake in The March! I know I gave this post a kinda heavy name, but I really think it's true. Ok maybe not but, not really. At any rate, I went to take photos and join the fight. :) It was a great experience and it felt good to sing power to the

people with a hundred other people. On the point of America's Soul, I hope the people win and not

the politicos and corporations.

Puppet Bike In Chicago

This is from the weekend I did my photo shoot. I love this. It was raining/snowing and everyone was gathered around laughing and forgetting their troubles and worries. It was wonderful. Cody (sister) and I saw it right after the photos shoot, I was feeling very happy that the photo shoot was over and I felt like giving everyone a hug. This was the perfect topper to a great weekend.

So, this weekend was my first real photo shoot. I made myself physically ill thinking about it the few days I had before the shoot. I don't really like any of the photos. They don't make me happy, just kinds bother me. These 5 are the ones out of 200 that I wanted to show. After the shoot I felt like eating as much as I could then find a good place on the street to sleep. Since I didn't eat or sleep that week. Thank you every one for all your support and to Cody, my wonderful sister thank you for coming with and being my rock.

Full Moon

Last night was amazing! The fog was so thick and it was a perfect full moon. Very Werewolf/Vampireish After I was done putting the ponies to bed I ran and got my camera, and of corse the moon was gone. Dang it! I was waiting around praying and hoping "Oh please, oh please come out moon". And, it came out! I'm really quite happy how everything turned out. A very antique-y looking and something else I can't quite put a finger on, but I like it. I got such a chill from waiting around for the moon to come out, I will admit that I was clutching my cat, hoping some of his warmth would transfer to me once I got back inside.

I was Alone

I took these today in the snow blizzard. Slightly ridiculous, slightly cold, but, I like them. I have the same photo twice, on account I couldn't decide which one I liked better. I really really like the first one. (It makes me look very mysterious) The blanket I used has a lot of meaning for me, it was my first pony's- Secret's blanket. I got him when I was 9 or 10 and I only got to be with him for three days. He passed away on the third day. It is very long and extremely unhappy story that comes down to the previous owners telling the greenhorn kid to give him green grass all day and large amounts of gain. Both of which Secret hadn't had in a long, long time. He got very sick from the rich food and coliced. (His insides wrapped around themselves) Hence, I keep this blanket in a cabinet and only take it out once in a while to burry my nose in it and think of Secret.

Hello everyone! I am SO sorry that I haven't posted yet this year. I've gotten caught up with Live & Conquer, (my Etsy shop) I've been working on my spring collection. (I feel so funny saying that) ;D I'm also pondering opening an Etsy shop for my photographs. Thoughts? I did a few other self portrait photo shoots this month, but I haven't posted them yet because I have sworn not to. Long story. ;D On another note..... I got the idea for a kind of photo collage from the Twilight soundtrack (New Moon), Shooting the Moon by OK Go. I LOVE that song. I had a really good time making it. The moon photo, the sunset photo and the photo of me are all mine. I had the mist fun making the rainbow waterfall. Well, I hope everyone is having a good start to the new year. I still can't believe it 2011! Oh my.

December Compendium

Hey Everyone. Sorry I haven't been about (blogging) lately. Holidays and all. ;D I know everyone
is doing there year in review kinds thing, but I though I would do my monthly compendium. I hope you
guys like. ;D I went on a trip to Ely MN earlier in the month with my Dad. I had been there a few years ago on a Outward Bound trip to Ely for a week of dog sledding. ;D Oh Yeah. We also went to the "International Wolf Museum". It was great. We also went to a historic Lighthouse on Lake Superior. There are a few things that have gone on this month. Happy New year Everyone! I recently got these rings the other day and I really wanted to do a photo shoot with them. It was also really cold outside (hence taking the photo inside.) and I was feeling a little down and needed a pick me up. And, nothing makes me happier than taking pictures. ;D I've never done a self portrait like this one, kinda up close and personal. But, I like it. It's my "Watch out 2011 for me kicking butt" photo. This is me going slightly crazy with my hair and make up. Don't worry, the white flakes in my hair is snow. ;D It was freezing when I did this photo shoot. Something like 27 degrees. I had a good time doing my make up and hair. The idea was some creature that was trying to blend in, but wasn't working out too well for "it". Hope you like. HAPPY DECEMBER EVERYBODY!!!!

Tribal Total Make Up Binge

I got this idea yesterday for a photo shoot, but I needed to go and get some make up for it. So, I went and

kinda went on a make up binge. I just got all the cheap sale stuff, so I didn't feel to bad spending money on things that I would never wear besides for photo shoots. Anyway, when I got home I thought I would try some ideas out for the idea I had and well, I went a little nuts you could say. But, in a good way. I just had to take a few photos. ;D It's ridiculous I know. Believe me I know. Hope you all like my craziness.

Winter In The City

My sister lives downtown now (sad face.) But, for the last few years we've made a habit of going to the Kris Kringle Market in downtown Chicago. We went a little earlier this year, to take a gander at all the goodies and have a good old time. It was one of those perfect wonderful days. The atmosphere was full of Christmas and the Holidays. It was all making me drunk and swoon. We even saw this older guy feeding the pigeons, and they were sitting on his hand! So glad I my camera! I wish a had a piece of bread through. :) Also the night before I put all the Christmas music I had back on my ipod and listened four hours of it on the train going downtown. So, that was my weekend.

A November Afternoon

This idea for a photo shoot popped into my head yesterday. I was about to do it, but thought better of it, as we had tornado warnings, and an actual tornado touched down just a few miles from our house! So, I thought I would save it for today. ;D The last photo was definitely the most "interesting", I set up my tripod outside my window, then took a bucket of water and thew/dumped it onto the window, then climbed back into my room to find that most of the water was now in my room then.... OOPS's. I was on my floor. All the while my cat and dog watching me from my bed, most likely worrying about my sanity. It was also extremely cold today! (not that, that really matters.) The last photo didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted it, but I was a little too cold to be my normal anal self. ;) The first 2 photo were to make up the the last one not being up to par.

My Ash Costume

Here's my Ash costume for Halloween! I really like it. I love the Fantastic Mr. Fox movie! I’ve been obsessed with being Ash for Halloween, so here it is. I left it a little late, so I got an old sweatshirt, turned it inside out, made it into a cardigan with Ash’s crest on it. I stayed up much too late making the mask, ears, and cardigan. I had a great times taking the photos with my timer.

Well it's here, Halloween! Happy Halloween to all, and to all a Happy Halloween! I thought I would do
a compendium of my October. :) The first few shots with me and my little makeshift jar lantern are in a neighbors corn field. The next few are my sister and a friend at a corn maze and pumpkin farm. -The best caramel apples and apple cider I have ever had. The place we went to also had all these fun games like, "Catapult Pumpkin" and "Ducky Derby" to name a few. All of which we did a large number of times. So much fun! The ones after that, are me again in a neighbors field playing with the beautiful moonlight and my double exposure setting. All in all, a really good month. And, today I started (finally)
training my horse Moses. I haven't ridden a horse in quite sometime, so ridding him today was a dream.

Dreaming with Feathers

I really like this photo shoot. I took quite a while, cause everything just wasn't working out.
But, it all worked out in the end. Every time (almost) I go walking and find a feather I always
put them in this jar. A few years ago my cat got into the can where I was storing my horde
and ate all them, hence the jar, that is stored in a drawer. ;D I made the dress for a mini movie
clip I'm working on. I am totally in love with it. The "tattoo" is an idea I've been toying with
for a while. It's not an actual tattoo, I drew it on last night. :) Hope you guys like the shoot.

Owed To Indian Summer

Here is my owed to the beautiful Indian Summer we experienced this weekend. (today)
It got up to 86 today, which I would normally hate. But, with everyone harvesting around
here, stirring up the dust, and with the beautiful color of the light, I just had to do a photo shoot.
I actually really like it. Which, I normally don't like anything I do. So it was all good. A
happy day. Here's to you, "Indian Summer".

Live & Conquer

So, it's been a whole week since I opened Live & Conquer! Wow. After nearly a year, it's launched.
It's been a little dry around here because I've been slowing coming back to life, after about 3 weeks
of getting 4-6 hours of sleep each night. :) Here's a few photos from the three photo shoots I did
for the shop. It was supposed to be only one, but, I wasn't really liking anything I did. But,
it all worked it's self out. :)

She Was Bored

I got the dress and the hat at Goodwill. I had a different idea
when I bought it. But, when I took a good hard look at the dress,
another different idea popped into my head. This one. :) I gave
the hat to my Mom, but, "borrowed" it back for the shoot.
I recently downloaded "Gimp". The generic brand of something
like "PhotoShop". (Which is way too much!) I played around with
it in the bottom photo. I had to sneak into the neighbors field
to take these..... SSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH.....

P.S. I don't actually like and nor approve the word "bored". But,
it was the only title I could think of!

Catch A Falling Star, And Put It In Your Pocket......

I made this dress a while ago. But, as soon as it was done, this idea for a
photo shoot popped into my head. It was very interesting to get the star up
in the tree, (I got hit in the head a lot.) and climbing up and down the ladder
to check out the photos. It didn't help that I took the photos right before a
storm, VERY windy. :D But, all in all, I think it all turned out well.

Honey, Babies, Princlings.

These are my babies! They are spoiled, they are loved and they are baby princlings.
The little brown and white pony is Ashi. I've had him since I was 9. The bigger
black and white, tall, dark and hasdsom is Moses. Who I've had since I was 13.
I MY GOSH DO I LOVE THEM! I thought we should have a photoshoot, so here

Live & Conquer!

I'm starting a business! Wow! Yay! Live & Conquer has been in the
works for about a year. And, now it is finally launching! Well...
in a few weeks that is. What is "Live & Conquer" anyway? It is
a handmade clothing, accessories, jewelry and vintage clothing
boutique. Everything you would ever need to live your life and
conquer it! It will be having it's grand opening in one-two weeks.
I'm really excited! I'll be posting a few photos of some items that will

Out West Voyage Photo Diary 2010

My Sister and I went on a road trip this summer. We went
to all sorts of beautiful places. Badlands, Yellowstone, The Tetons,
Glacier and Canada. I personally didn't much like Canada. -Long Story.
Here are a few of the photographs from the trip. I'm quite proud of these
photos, out of about 2,500 that I took! I've now come to the conclusion that
I want to be a postcard photographer!

Summer Fruit

These beautiful strawberries are from our home garden. This photo is from
June, but I think it's one of my favorite photos of the year. We had to fight off
mice, bugs and everything else that wanted to eat them. I'm a sucker for
any red fruit. Strawberries, raspberries and watermelon. Oh my!

Sunny Wispy Dream

I've had this idea for a photo shoot for a long time. Actually it what a
different idea, but that's ok. I had a very good time with taking the photos
and being the model. And, a dress that I have been working on for a long
time is finally finished. Win, win. However I might still go and photograph
the original idea for this dress. Hmmm....

Last Summer....

These photographs are from a summer course I took last summer from
Columbia College in Chicago. It was a 8 week course on photography,
ending with a final project. This photographic story line was my final
project of the summer. The final project was up to you to think of and
photograph, photoshop (if need be) then present to the class for
critique. Mine was the only "story" and I had to edit it down a lot from
it's original 13 photographs. I had a very interesting time photographing
all the scenes from a story board I had made up with only myself a
tripod and a remote time. (oh my!). I went to GoodWill to pick up an old
dress, took the photos, then tweaked the photos slightly with photoshop
to get the look I wanted. Hope you all like the story.

P.S. They were originally tiffs then I had to resize them online
(I don't have photoshop) so the color of the photos themselves are a bit off.

On the Front

So. I have recently been thinking on what this experimental blog should
roughly be about. I have come to the conclusion that I can not set my
mind to exactly what it might hold. The only thing I came up with is
photographs. (And, a great many other things that I can not seem to recall.)

Conclusion;
This blog will be to record all the photo shoots that I take, make and
think of, also all the "items" that I make for the shoots. Mainly costumes.
This blog also may dabble in some fashion ideas.

There it is the rough plan.
